This one I’ve chosen to make free and accessible. It first appeared on my Twitter and Instagram back in 2020, receiving positive responses. t’s short, simple, and to the point—which feels fitting for something freely shared.
We pick them because they’re pretty
We pick them up and put them in order perfectly
Facing their heads outwards, demanding that they sit just right
We set them out displaying their beauty proudly
As if it is our own
And when they start to wilt
On display, denied and deprived
We toss them out to the trash
Because we pick them because they’re pretty
